Stars #1 and #2 are saturated, and their magnitudes and colours should be used only for guidance until reliable magnitudes are determined. They both have semi-reliable Tycho-2 magnitudes; star #1 is V=10.61+/-0.06 and star #2 is V=10.82+/-0.07. 3. There are several other bright stars in the area of this variable which have reliable Tycho-2 magnitudes. They are: 07h 48m 38.9s -23d 26' 54" V= 9.15+/-0.02 07h 49m 35.3s -23d 32' 30" V= 9.46+/-0.02 07h 48m 39.6s -23d 32' 34" V=10.19+/-0.04 An additional star at 07h 49m 32.9s -23d 39' 53" has a magnitude of V=11.20 (Astron. J. 75 324 1970). 4. There is a short sequence by Vogt in Publ. VSS, RASNZ No. 5, 1977. These magnitudes are also shown on RASNZ chart 469 dated June 1979. The minimum magnitude of BV Pup appears to fluctuate between about V=15.2 and V=15.4. Bruce Sumner 20 January 2001
