Stars #2 and #3 should be used for guidance only until accurate magnitudes are determined. 2. UY Pup has a close companion located 10 arcsec southeast. The companion has a magnitude of V=16.484+/-0.016 and B-V=0.380+/-0.030. 3. UY Pup is another example of a UG variable that becomes redder as it faded. Near maximum it was measured at V=14.132 and B-V=0.146, but at quiescence it had a colour of B-V=0.771. UY Pup varies at minimum between about V=15.5 and V=16.1. Bruce Sumner 22 January 2001
